Queen Elinor

Queen Elinor is the regal and dignified mother of Princess Merida in Pixar’s Brave (2012). As queen of the Scottish kingdom of DunBroch, she embodies the traditional values and protocols expected of royalty, often clashing with her free-spirited daughter who rejects conventional princess duties. Voiced by Emma Thompson, Elinor is a devoted mother who believes deeply in duty, diplomacy, and maintaining peace between the clans.

Despite their conflicts over Merida’s future, Elinor’s love for her daughter runs deep. When a magical mishap transforms her into a bear, she must navigate this frightening change whilst learning to understand Merida’s perspective. Through their adventure together, both mother and daughter discover the importance of communication, compromise, and accepting each other’s differences whilst maintaining their unbreakable bond.
