A former stormtrooper who broke free from First Order indoctrination, Jannah leads a group of deserters who discovered their humanity whilst stationed on the moon Kef Bir. Born during the New Republic era, she was taken as a child and trained within the First Order’s military machine, assigned to Company 77 alongside other conscripted soldiers who would later become her closest allies.
Her turning point came during a mission where Company 77 received orders to fire on civilians. Unable to follow through with the command, Jannah and her entire unit made the unprecedented decision to abandon their posts, stealing a transport and fleeing to the oceanic moon orbiting the gas giant Endor. There, they established a community of ex-stormtroopers, surviving by scavenging technology from the wreckage of the second Death Star.
When the Resistance arrives on Kef Bir searching for a Sith wayfinder, Jannah initially approaches them with suspicion before recognising a kindred spirit in Finn, another former stormtrooper. Her military expertise and intimate knowledge of First Order tactics prove invaluable during the final battle against the Sith Eternal fleet above Exegol, where she commands Resistance cavalry in their desperate assault on a Star Destroyer.
Portrayed by British actress Naomi Ackie, the character represents themes of redemption and breaking free from authoritarian control that run throughout the sequel trilogy. Her journey from indoctrinated soldier to freedom fighter mirrors broader questions about individual agency and moral courage in the face of overwhelming institutional power.
