Admiral Ackbar

This salmon-coloured amphibious commander stands as one of the Rebel Alliance’s most crucial military leaders, bringing decades of tactical expertise to the fight against Imperial tyranny. Born on the ocean world of Mon Cala, he originally served his homeworld’s monarchy before the Clone Wars thrust him into galactic conflict. His species’ natural affinity for naval warfare and three-dimensional thinking made him an invaluable asset when the Mon Calamari eventually joined the Rebellion.

The admiral’s strategic brilliance came to the fore during the Battle of Endor, where he commanded the Rebel fleet from his flagship, a converted Mon Calamari star cruiser. His famous warning about Imperial traps became a defining moment of the battle, demonstrating his keen tactical awareness. Under his leadership, the ragtag Rebel fleet successfully engaged the Emperor’s forces whilst the shield generator on the forest moon below was destroyed.

Following the Empire’s defeat, he continued serving the New Republic’s military hierarchy, helping to establish stability in a galaxy recovering from decades of authoritarian rule. When the First Order emerged as a new threat, the aging commander once again answered the call to serve, joining the Resistance’s high command. His unwavering dedication to freedom and democratic principles spans multiple generations of galactic conflict.

Tim Rose brought the character to life through puppetry and voice work, creating a memorable figure whose tactical acumen and distinctive appearance made him instantly recognisable to audiences worldwide.
