Mother Talzin rules the Nightsisters of Dathomir with an iron fist, wielding dark magick that sets her apart from traditional Force users across the galaxy. As the clan mother of this matriarchal society, she commands respect through her mastery of ancient Dathomirian rituals and her ability to manipulate green, ethereal energy that can heal, harm, or even resurrect the dead. Her pale, tattooed appearance and ritualistic garb reflect her deep connection to the mystical traditions of her homeworld.
The Nightsister leader’s most significant contribution to galactic events came through her son, Darth Maul, whom she surrendered to Darth Sidious as part of a calculated political manoeuvre. This decision would later fuel her burning desire for revenge against the Sith Lord who took her child and ultimately destroyed him. Her complex relationship with Maul demonstrates both her maternal instincts and her willingness to sacrifice personal bonds for the greater good of her people.
During the Clone Wars, Talzin orchestrated several schemes against both the Republic and the Separatists, aligning herself with various criminal organisations through the Shadow Collective. Her supernatural abilities allowed her to pose a genuine threat to some of the galaxy’s most powerful figures, including Mace Windu and Count Dooku. Barbara Goodson’s voice performance brought an otherworldly quality to the character, emphasising her mystical nature through measured, haunting delivery.
Her final confrontation with General Grievous on Dathomir in 19 BBY marked the end of both her reign and her life, though not before she demonstrated the full extent of her formidable powers in a desperate attempt to save her clan.
