Fives served as an ARC trooper in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, distinguished by his fierce loyalty and unwavering determination to protect his fellow clones. Originally designated CT-27-5555, he earned his nickname from the last four digits of his identification number and quickly became known for his independent thinking and tactical prowess on the battlefield.
His military career began at Rishi Station, where he and fellow clone Echo survived a devastating Separatist attack that claimed most of their unit. This traumatic experience forged an unbreakable bond between the survivors and demonstrated his natural leadership abilities. Following his promotion to ARC trooper status, he joined the elite 501st Legion under the command of Captain Rex and Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, participating in numerous high-stakes missions across the galaxy.
The discovery of inhibitor chips implanted in all clone troopers became his most significant and ultimately fatal investigation. When his friend Tup began exhibiting erratic behaviour and killed a Jedi, Fives uncovered evidence of a conspiracy that reached the highest levels of the Republic. His relentless pursuit of the truth led him to uncover the chips’ true purpose: compelling clones to execute Order 66 and eliminate the Jedi.
Despite his efforts to warn the Republic leadership, his investigation was systematically suppressed. Branded as mentally unstable and pursued by his own brothers, he died on Coruscant in 19 BBY while attempting to expose the conspiracy that would ultimately destroy the Jedi Order and transform the Republic into the Galactic Empire.
