Fenn Rau commands respect as one of the most formidable Mandalorian warriors to emerge from the Clone Wars era. Originally serving as leader of the elite Skull Squadron, he piloted Kom’rk-class fighter/transports alongside Clone trooper units during the galactic conflict. His tactical brilliance and unwavering loyalty to Mandalorian tradition established him as a natural leader amongst his people.
Following the rise of the Empire, Rau retreated to the remote world of Concord Dawn with his surviving Protectors, establishing a base amongst the planet’s asteroid fields. There, he maintained an uneasy neutrality, protecting Mandalorian space whilst avoiding direct confrontation with Imperial forces. This isolationist stance brought him into conflict with other Mandalorian factions seeking to actively resist Imperial rule.
His encounter with the Ghost crew fundamentally altered his perspective on the growing rebellion against the Empire. Initially capturing Sabine Wren and her companions, Rau found himself forced to confront the reality of Imperial oppression when his own forces were betrayed and slaughtered by Imperial Super Commandos. This devastating loss transformed the pragmatic leader into a committed ally of the rebel cause.
Kevin McKidd’s portrayal brings gravitas to this weathered warrior, capturing both his tactical acumen and the weight of leadership responsibilities. Rau’s distinctive Mandalorian armour, decorated with Skull Squadron markings, reflects his dual identity as both a relic of the Clone Wars and an active participant in the fight for Mandalorian independence.
