Rodolphus Lestrange stands as one of the most devoted followers of Lord Voldemort, having pledged his allegiance to the Dark Lord during the First Wizarding War. A pure-blood wizard from the prominent Lestrange family, he attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he was sorted into Slytherin House. During his school years, he became part of a gang of Slytherins who would later form the core of Voldemort’s Death Eaters.
His marriage to Bellatrix Black cemented his position within the Dark Arts community, uniting two of the most fanatical pure-blood families. The union proved to be one built on shared ideology rather than affection, as both remained utterly committed to Voldemort’s cause above all else. Through this marriage, he became connected to the influential House of Black, gaining brothers-in-law in Lucius Malfoy and Edward Tonks, though these family ties meant little given their opposing allegiances.
Lestrange’s unwavering loyalty to Voldemort led him to commit some of the wizarding world’s most heinous crimes. Alongside his wife and brother Rabastan, he participated in the brutal torture of Frank and Alice Longbottom using the Cruciatus Curse, an act that earned him a life sentence in Azkaban prison. The attack left the Auror couple permanently incapacitated and orphaned their infant son Neville.
Following Voldemort’s return in 1996, Lestrange escaped from Azkaban during a mass breakout and resumed his role as a Death Eater. After Bellatrix’s death during the Battle of Hogwarts, he became widowed but remained at large, his current whereabouts unknown to the wizarding authorities.
