Depa Billaba stands as one of the Jedi Order’s most accomplished masters during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Trained by the formidable Mace Windu, she earned her place on the prestigious Jedi High Council, where her wisdom and tactical acumen proved invaluable during increasingly turbulent times. Her calm demeanour and strategic mind made her a respected voice amongst the Council’s deliberations.

When the Clone Wars erupted across the galaxy, Billaba transitioned from temple diplomat to battlefield general, leading her own battalions of clone troopers against Separatist forces. Her military campaigns demonstrated the same measured approach that characterised her Council service, balancing aggressive tactics with careful consideration for her troops’ welfare. Throughout the conflict, she maintained her commitment to Jedi principles whilst adapting to the harsh realities of galactic warfare.

Perhaps her most significant contribution to the Jedi legacy came through her mentorship of young Caleb Dume, a promising Padawan whom she guided with patience and dedication. Their master-apprentice bond proved crucial during the galaxy’s darkest hour, when Chancellor Palpatine executed Order 66 in 19 BBY. On the planet Kaller, Billaba made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure her apprentice’s survival, using her final moments to help Caleb escape the clone troopers’ sudden betrayal.

Her death marked not just the loss of a skilled warrior and wise councillor, but the severing of a teaching lineage that stretched back through Windu to the ancient Jedi traditions. Through Caleb’s survival, however, her influence would continue to shape the galaxy’s future in ways she could never have foreseen.
