Elphias Doge serves as Special Advisor to the Wizengamot, the wizarding world’s highest court, representing decades of distinguished service within the British Ministry of Magic. Born in the early 1880s, this silver-haired wizard with piercing grey-blue eyes became one of Albus Dumbledore’s closest friends during their time at Hogwarts, forging a bond that would endure for over a century. Their friendship began when Dumbledore showed kindness to the young Doge, who suffered from dragon pox during his school years, leaving him with permanent scarring that made him somewhat of an outcast among his peers.

Throughout his long career in magical law, Doge maintained his unwavering loyalty to Dumbledore and the principles they shared. When Voldemort returned to power, he joined the reformed Order of the Phoenix without hesitation, lending his expertise and connections within the Ministry to support the resistance. His commitment to the cause led him to volunteer for the dangerous Advance Guard mission, helping to escort Harry Potter from Privet Drive to Grimmauld Place during the summer of 1995.

Despite his pure-blood heritage, Doge firmly rejected blood supremacist ideologies, aligning himself instead with those who championed equality and justice in the wizarding world. His position within the Wizengamot provided valuable intelligence to the Order, though his association with Dumbledore sometimes placed him at odds with Ministry officials who sought to discredit the headmaster. Following Dumbledore’s death, Doge became one of his most vocal defenders, using his platform to counter the revisionist claims made by Rita Skeeter and other critics who attempted to tarnish his friend’s reputation.
