Frank Longbottom served as one of the most dedicated Aurors in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement during the height of Voldemort’s first rise to power. Born into the pure-blood Longbottom family and raised by his formidable mother Augusta, he chose to dedicate his career to fighting Dark wizards rather than pursuing a comfortable life of privilege. His commitment to justice led him to join the Order of the Phoenix, where he worked alongside other resistance members to combat Voldemort’s growing influence.
During his time as an Auror, Frank met and married Alice, a fellow member of the magical law enforcement community who shared his unwavering dedication to protecting the wizarding world. Together, they became one of the most respected couples in their field, known for their skill, bravery, and moral conviction. Their partnership extended beyond their professional lives when they welcomed their son Neville in July 1980, during some of the darkest days of the wizarding war.
Frank’s career came to a tragic end shortly after Voldemort’s initial defeat in 1981. Death Eaters led by Bellatrix Lestrange captured both Frank and Alice, subjecting them to prolonged torture using the Cruciatus Curse in an attempt to extract information about their master’s whereabouts. The sustained torture left both parents permanently incapacitated, unable to recognise their own son or care for themselves.
Now residing in the long-term care ward at St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, Frank requires constant medical attention. His sacrifice, alongside Alice’s, represents the devastating personal cost of the war against Voldemort, leaving young Neville to be raised by his grandmother Augusta while his parents remain lost to the psychological damage inflicted by their attackers.
