Nien Nunb stands as one of the Rebel Alliance’s most skilled pilots, hailing from the volcanic mining world of Sullust. This diminutive Sullustan first emerged during the climactic Battle of Endor, where he served as co-pilot aboard the Millennium Falcon alongside Lando Calrissian. His distinctive appearance features large black eyes, grey skin, and prominent jowls that enable him to communicate in his native language of rapid clicks and warbles.

During the assault on the second Death Star, the experienced pilot proved instrumental in navigating the massive space station’s labyrinthine interior. His technical expertise and calm demeanour under pressure helped guide the successful mission that ultimately destroyed the Empire’s ultimate weapon. The character’s presence added authenticity to the diverse coalition of species fighting against Imperial tyranny.

Decades later, this veteran pilot resurfaced as a member of the Resistance, continuing his fight against authoritarian forces in the galaxy. He participated in several key battles during the conflict with the First Order, demonstrating that his piloting skills remained as sharp as ever. His longevity as a freedom fighter spans multiple generations of galactic conflict.

Richard Bonehill brought the character to life through practical puppetry and costume work, creating a memorable alien presence that required no dialogue to convey competence and reliability. The Sullustan’s wordless performance communicates volumes about his dedication to the cause of freedom, making him a recognisable face among the Rebellion’s diverse roster of heroes.
