Rubeus Hagrid

Standing nearly twelve feet tall with wild hair and a tangled beard, Rubeus Hagrid serves as Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Born to a wizard father and giantess mother in 1928, his half-giant heritage grants him extraordinary physical strength and remarkable resistance to magic, though it also subjects him to prejudice from those who fear his giant blood. Despite his intimidating appearance, he possesses a gentle heart and unwavering loyalty to those he cares about.

Expelled from Hogwarts in his third year after being falsely accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets, Hagrid’s wand was snapped and he was forbidden from practising magic. However, Albus Dumbledore believed in his innocence and allowed him to remain at the school as gamekeeper. Years later, when Harry Potter arrived at Hogwarts, Hagrid became the boy’s first friend in the wizarding world, personally delivering his Hogwarts letter and introducing him to Diagon Alley.

His passion for magical creatures often leads to trouble, as he tends to adopt dangerous beasts and treat them as pets. From raising a dragon in his wooden hut to caring for a massive three-headed dog, his definition of “harmless” differs considerably from most people’s. Eventually appointed as Professor of Care of Magical Creatures, he struggles with lesson planning but compensates with genuine enthusiasm for his subject.

As a member of the Order of the Phoenix, Hagrid proves his courage repeatedly, fighting alongside his friends during the Second Wizarding War and remaining fiercely protective of Harry throughout his darkest moments.
