Perched beside the massive crime lord Jabba the Hutt in his Tatooine palace, this diminutive Kowakian monkey-lizard serves as both court jester and malicious companion. Standing barely a metre tall with leathery skin, beady eyes, and a perpetually cackling demeanour, the creature delights in the suffering of others whilst providing twisted entertainment for his corpulent master.
The monkey-lizard’s relationship with Jabba extends beyond mere amusement—he acts as a confidant and occasional spy within the criminal organisation. His high-pitched laughter punctuates the palace’s darker moments, particularly during the torture of prisoners or the feeding of enemies to the rancor beast below. Despite his small stature, he wields considerable influence through his proximity to the Hutt crime lord and isn’t above using his position to torment those who fall from grace.
Voice actor Mark Dodson brought the character to life through a distinctive array of chattering sounds, cackles, and gibberish that perfectly captured the creature’s mischievous and sadistic nature. The puppet’s expressive features and animated gestures made him a memorable presence in Jabba’s throne room scenes.
The character met his end when Luke Skywalker’s rescue mission culminated in the destruction of Jabba’s sail barge over the Sarlacc pit. As the vessel exploded in the Dune Sea, the monkey-lizard’s reign of petty cruelty came to an abrupt conclusion, marking the end of one of the galaxy’s most notorious criminal enterprises.
