Portrayed by Denis Lawson
This Corellian pilot emerged as one of the Rebel Alliance’s most skilled starfighter aces during the Galactic Civil War. Born in 21 BBY, Wedge Antilles initially trained at the Imperial Skystrike Academy before defecting to join the rebellion against Emperor Palpatine’s regime. His exceptional flying abilities and tactical acumen quickly earned him a place amongst the Alliance’s elite squadrons.
Antilles participated in the pivotal Battle of Yavin as Red Two, flying alongside Luke Skywalker in the desperate assault on the Death Star. He remained one of only three pilots to survive the mission that destroyed the Empire’s ultimate weapon. His combat record continued to impress during the Battle of Hoth, where he flew a snowspeeder in the defence of Echo Base, successfully bringing down an Imperial AT-AT walker using tow cables.
At the Battle of Endor, the veteran pilot commanded Red Squadron during the fleet action that culminated in the destruction of the second Death Star and the Emperor’s demise. Following the Empire’s defeat, he became instrumental in establishing Rogue Squadron under the New Republic, mentoring the next generation of pilots including Temmin Wexley.
Denis Lawson portrayed the character across the original trilogy films, bringing a steady presence to the chaotic dogfight sequences. Decades later, Antilles returned to active service with the Resistance’s Citizens’ Fleet, participating in the final battle against the resurgent Sith forces at Exegol. His career spanning multiple galactic conflicts established him as one of the galaxy’s most enduring military figures.
