A dedicated Jedi Knight who served the Galactic Republic during the High Republic era, Yord Fandar embodied the traditional values of the Jedi Order with unwavering commitment. Born around 157 BBY, he trained under Master Elishe before ascending to the ranks of knighthood and eventually taking on his own Padawan, Tasi Lowa. His distinctive voice work by Kevin Thoms brought depth to this principled character who appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Fandar’s career demonstrated his versatility within the Order, serving both as a member of the prestigious Jedi Temple Guard and participating in field missions across the galaxy. The Temple Guard role required exceptional discipline and anonymity, with members donning ceremonial masks and yellow lightsabres to protect the sacred Jedi Temple on Coruscant. This position reflected his dedication to the Order’s most fundamental duties.
His final mission took him to the remote world of Khofar as part of a specialised Jedi task force in 132 BBY. The planet, known for its dangerous wildlife and dense forests, proved to be a treacherous assignment that would test even experienced Jedi. The mission ultimately claimed his life, marking the end of a career spent in service to the light side of the Force.
Though his time in the expanded Star Wars universe was relatively brief, Fandar represents the archetypal Jedi of the High Republic period—disciplined, selfless, and committed to protecting others even at the ultimate cost. His legacy continues through his former apprentice and the example he set for future generations of Jedi.
