This grizzled outlaw first encountered Han Solo during a disastrous Imperial recruitment on Mimban, where the young smuggler’s attempt to desert led to an unexpected partnership. Recognising Solo’s potential, Beckett reluctantly took him under his wing, teaching him the harsh realities of survival in a galaxy where trust proves a dangerous luxury.

The criminal’s most ambitious scheme involved stealing unrefined coaxium from the mines of Kessel, a job that required precise timing and considerable skill. Working alongside his crew—including the four-armed Ardennian Rio Durant and his partner Val—Beckett planned to deliver the volatile fuel to the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn. However, the mission’s complications multiplied when Dryden Vos, Crimson Dawn’s ruthless enforcer, demanded payment for their earlier failures.

Throughout his mentorship of Solo, Beckett demonstrated a pragmatic approach to criminality, emphasising self-preservation above loyalty. His philosophy centred on the belief that everyone eventually betrays everyone else, a worldview shaped by years of operating in the galaxy’s criminal underworld.
