Alastor Moody stands as one of the wizarding world’s most formidable Aurors, bearing the physical and psychological scars of decades spent hunting dark wizards. His grizzled appearance tells the story of countless battles: a chunk missing from his nose, scars covering much of his body, a wooden leg replacing the one he lost in the line of duty, and most notably, a magical electric blue eye that can see through walls, doors, and even the back of his own head.
Working for the Ministry of Magic’s Auror Department, Moody built a fearsome reputation for his relentless pursuit of Dark Arts practitioners. His paranoid behaviour and constant vigilance—epitomised by his motto “CONSTANT VIGILANCE!”—stems from years of facing dangerous opponents who would stop at nothing to eliminate him. This wariness extends to his eating habits, as he only consumes food and drink from his own hip flask, suspicious that enemies might attempt to poison him.
During the First Wizarding War, Moody served as a key member of the Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore’s secret organisation opposing Voldemort. His extensive knowledge of dark magic detection and defence made him invaluable to the resistance effort. Tragically, his legendary career came to an end in July 1997 when he was killed during the Battle of the Seven Potters, dying as he had lived—protecting others from the forces of darkness.
Though his gruff exterior and suspicious nature could make him appear harsh, Moody possessed an unwavering moral compass and deep loyalty to those fighting against evil, making him both a mentor figure and a symbol of sacrifice in the wizarding world’s darkest hours.
