Despite his imposing presence, he displays remarkable gentleness with droids and shows deep emotional connections to his human friends.

Peter Mayhew brought this character to life across multiple films, establishing a performance that relied entirely on physical expression and vocal work. The role later passed to Joonas Suotamo, who continued the tradition of portraying this complex warrior whose honour and loyalty anchor him as a central figure in the ongoing struggle between light and darkness.
