Born on April Fool’s Day 1978, Fred Weasley seemed destined for a life of mischief and laughter. As one half of the notorious Weasley twins, he transformed Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry into his personal testing ground for pranks and magical innovations. Together with his younger twin George, he developed an impressive arsenal of joke products that would later become the foundation of their successful business venture.
During his time at Hogwarts, Fred distinguished himself as a Beater on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, wielding his bat with the same enthusiasm he brought to everything else. His magical abilities extended beyond pranks—his Patronus took the form of a magpie, reflecting his clever and mischievous nature. Despite his reputation as a troublemaker, he demonstrated genuine courage when it mattered most, joining Dumbledore’s Army and later the Order of the Phoenix in the fight against Voldemort’s forces.
After leaving Hogwarts early in dramatic fashion during his seventh year, Fred co-founded Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes in Diagon Alley with George. The shop became a beacon of joy during increasingly dark times, offering everything from Extendable Ears to Puking Pastilles. His entrepreneurial spirit and natural showmanship helped the business flourish, proving that his years of rule-breaking had taught him valuable lessons about innovation and determination.
Tragically, Fred’s life ended during the Battle of Hogwarts on 2nd May 1998, when he was killed by an explosion in the castle’s seventh-floor corridor. He died at age twenty, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and the thriving joke shop that continues to bring magic and merriment to the wizarding world.
