Lor San Tekka stands as a bridge between the galaxy’s spiritual past and its uncertain future, serving as an explorer and keeper of ancient Jedi knowledge long after the Order’s fall. This weathered traveller dedicated his life to preserving Force-related artefacts and wisdom, becoming one of the few remaining links to the old ways following the Empire’s systematic destruction of Jedi heritage.
Though not Force-sensitive himself, San Tekka devoted decades to the Church of the Force, a religious movement that revered the Jedi traditions without claiming their abilities. His extensive travels across remote worlds allowed him to salvage countless relics and texts that would otherwise have been lost to Imperial purges. This work brought him into contact with key figures of the Rebellion, including General Leia Organa, who recognised the value of his unique expertise.
When the New Republic emerged victorious, San Tekka continued his scholarly pursuits whilst quietly supporting the growing Resistance against First Order expansion. His most crucial contribution came through possessing a vital piece of the map leading to Luke Skywalker’s hidden location—information desperately sought by both the Resistance and their enemies.
The elderly explorer’s final act of defiance occurred on the desert planet Jakku in 34 ABY, where he had settled amongst fellow believers. Faced with First Order forces demanding the map fragment, he chose to entrust it to the droid BB-8 rather than surrender it to Kylo Ren, paying for this decision with his life but ensuring hope survived.
