Old Daka serves as the ancient matriarch of the Nightsisters, a coven of Force-wielding witches who inhabit the shadowy planet of Dathomir. Distinguished by her gnarled appearance and glowing green eyes, she commands the darkest magicks of her people and holds authority over the secrets of life and death itself. Her weathered form conceals centuries of accumulated knowledge about the mystical arts that define Nightsister culture.
During the Clone Wars, Daka played a pivotal role when the Separatist General Grievous launched a devastating assault on Dathomir. As the droid army overwhelmed the Nightsister stronghold, she demonstrated her most fearsome ability by raising an army of undead Nightsisters from their graves. These reanimated warriors fought alongside their living sisters in a desperate attempt to repel the mechanical invaders, showcasing the extent of Daka’s necromantic powers.
The elderly witch also participated in Mother Talzin’s ambitious plot against the Jedi, using her magic to enhance the assassination attempts on key Republic figures. Her expertise in the ancient rituals of her people made her an invaluable asset to the coven’s machinations during the galactic conflict.
Voiced by Kathleen Gati, Old Daka represents the mystical traditions of the Nightsisters in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. Her character embodies the darker aspects of Force usage, demonstrating how the energy field can be channelled through entirely different cultural practices beyond the familiar Jedi and Sith traditions.
