Tion Medon serves as Port Administrator of Pau City on the sinkhole planet of Utapau, where his gaunt frame and distinctive red markings make him instantly recognisable amongst his fellow Pau’ans. Standing nearly two metres tall, this ancient species member possesses the characteristic grey skin and sharp teeth that define his people, who have shared their windswept world with the shorter Utai for millennia.
When Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on Utapau searching for General Grievous during the Clone Wars, Medon found himself caught between duty and conscience. Despite his official role requiring him to maintain neutrality, he secretly informed the Jedi Master about the Separatist presence on his world. This act of quiet rebellion demonstrated the administrator’s true loyalties lay with the Republic, even as his planet groaned under unwanted occupation.
The Pau’an’s careful mannerisms and formal speech patterns reflected his species’ natural diplomatic tendencies, qualities that served him well in managing the busy spaceport carved into Utapau’s rocky walls. His position required delicate navigation between various factions, making his decision to aid Kenobi all the more significant. Bruce Spence brought a memorable gravitas to the role, creating a character whose brief screen time left a lasting impression on audiences.
Following the Republic’s transformation into the Empire, Medon’s fate became uncertain, though his actions during the Battle of Utapau established him as someone willing to risk everything when confronted with tyranny threatening his homeworld.
