Pixar Plaza is the small paved area between Animation Courtyard and the entrance to Toy Story Land, and it is the most quietly changed corner of Hollywood Studios. It opened as Pixar Place, a narrow street dressed as the Emeryville studio lot with warehouse frontages and water towers, built as the approach to Toy Story Mania. When Toy Story Land opened next door the street lost its job, the studio-lot dressing came down, and what is left is an open plaza that trades scenery for space.
What it does now is characters. Edna Mode holds court in her own experience here, Joy and other Pixar characters meet in the plaza itself, and the open ground means queues form without blocking the route through. It is somewhere you pass through on the way to Toy Story Land rather than somewhere you plan a visit around, and treating it as anything grander would be overselling it.
