Discovery Island is the hub of Animal Kingdom, wrapped around the Tree of Life: a 145-foot artificial baobab carved with roughly 300 animal forms, with a theatre built into its trunk. That theatre has housed Zootopia: Better Zoogether! since November 2025, the park's newest headline offering and the only air-conditioned show at that scale. Every path in the park converges here, which is why most of the shops and both signature dining rooms sit on it, and why it is where you will end up repeatedly whether you plan to or not. A theatre built into the trunk. It has housed Zootopia: Better Zoogether! since November 2025, and it is the only air-conditioned show at that scale in the park, which makes it useful in the middle of a hot afternoon as well as worth seeing.
Roughly 300, across a 145-foot artificial baobab. They are not decoration applied to a surface: the trunk, roots and branches were sculpted around them, and the Discovery Island Trails loop around the base so you can pick out figures you miss from the bridges.
The Discovery Island Trails loop off the main path around the Tree of Life and come back to it, so you cannot really get lost. Every path in the park converges on Discovery Island, which is why you end up crossing it repeatedly whether you plan to or not.
